Artist in Residence Open Studio: Carolyn Menzies

Registration is closed for this event
Join ATW Artist in Residence Carolyn Menzies for an open studio! You are invited to meet Carolyn and learn more about her intriguing sculptural practice that combines knitting and other textile techniques with unusual materials such as steel wool and mesh. Her sculptural forms emerge from the union of the industrial and the handmade and express a concern for the relentless urbanisation of modern life. Carolyn will speak about her work and provide a demonstration at 3 PM. Born in New Zealand, Carolyn studied sculpture at the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts. A travel grant from Creative New Zealand allowed her to travel to the UK where she completed her MA at Central Saint Martins, London, in 2001. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in New Zealand, Australia and the UK. Carolyn currently lives and works in the Port Melbourne/St Kilda. This event is proudly supported by the City of Port Phillip.
