Registration is closed for this event
Join Short Black Opera’s Deborah Cheetham and Couturier Linda Britten in conversation about their design collaboration to create gowns worn by the soprano to perform ‘Woven Song’, chamber music that responds to Indigenous tapestries woven at the Australian Tapestry Workshop.

Date: Wednesday 11 March 2020 6:00pm, refreshments from 5:30pm

Tickets: Friends of the ATW + City of Port Phillip Residents $10 | General $15
(COPP Residents to select Friends of the ATW ticket type).

Join Short Black Opera’s Deborah Cheetham AO and Melbourne couturier Linda Britten in conversation as they discuss their collaboration to create gowns especially designed for Deborah Cheetham's ‘WOVEN SONG’. These gowns were created in response to the ATW tapestries designed by Indigenous artists including Brook Andrew, Daisy Andrews and Nanyuma Napangati for Australian Embassies and High Commissions in Singapore, Tokyo and New Delhi.

Deborah and Linda will discuss the creative response to these tapestries through performance couture. Linda will share the conceptual underpinnings of her designs and share insights about the construction of these unique gowns which feature as the centrepieces of the ATW's current exhibition.

This in conversation is proudly part of Asia TOPA and Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival Arts Program 2020.
