‘Miniature Moments – seeing and interpreting detail in tapestry’ - Tapestry Masterclass with Cresside Collette

Registration is closed for this event
Join weaver Cresside Collette for a design development masterclass to create miniature moments in tapestry derived from drawing and collage.

Cresside Collette has long held the belief that as an individual tapestry artist one can express just as much observation, energy, interest and concentrated power in a small scale work as in the mural form that is synonymous with the development of the art of tapestry over the centuries.

Her current work explores the idea of scale, as each suite of tapestries takes, as it’s starting point, the same image and exploits its qualities from miniature to mural.

‘Miniature Moments – seeing and interpreting detail in tapestry’ is a two-day master class in design development for weavers with basic skills in tapestry weaving. Participants will be making a small tapestry derived from elements of drawing and collage.

Examples of small work will be examined to understand how detail can be used successfully in tapestry, as well as learning technical methods involved in their construction. The aim is to produce a small, coherent work of art within a limited time frame. Weavers that have completed an introductory course at ATW or similar will have the necessary skills for this class.

All warp & weft and other materials provided. Pack with tapestry loom, bobbin & clamp can be purchased at the ATW or participants can bring their own.
