The Australian Tapestry Workshop is delighted to welcome internationally renowned Indonesian installation artist Mulyana for a finger crocheting workshop.
Mulyana creates colourful Coral Islands - pieced together from yarn pom poms and knitted shapes. After coming up with a design, the artist works with the community to execute the individual ‘corals’.
Mulyana was educated as an art teacher and learned knitting and crocheting at the famous book shop collective Tobucil in Bandung. Mulyana experiences the act of knitting or crocheting as a form of meditation and prayer.
Participants will learn finger crocheting techniques using ATW dyed yarn.
